I just want to honest to goodness blog about football.

15 Things I think from Watching this Weekend :

1. Walter Jones is one of the best lineman in football. I know that Shaun Alexander is a good running back, but man, did Jones open up those holes against that defense, especially against high energy guy Patrick Kearney.

2. Michael Vick seriously needs a better supporting cast around him. I just don't like Roddy White for him, I think Michael Jenkins is a flake and will soon burn out (but maybe that's because he's from Ohio State and I have a tenacity to dislike old Buckeyes). I think Jenkins would be a better 3 receiver, (ya know, that receiver that will burn linebackers lined up overtop of him and will get safeties to respect his speed).

3. I like the Seahawks secondary. Marcus Trufant has a sort of prima donna attitude that I don't like, but when he's on, he's on. Andre Dyson is a stud but I don't think he's a shut down corner in the traditional lore. BUT I think that they're good when they're on and are definitely a talented group. Especially Michael Boulware, I can't say enough about that kid.

4. I think if you're Minnesota, you have to seriously regroup. All that talent on paper won't win you games. Can you say "too much talent and not enough hunger?"

5. Carolina has to be one of the most physical teams in the NFL. Defensively, they're just so tough. Sometimes I think they're teh prototypical football team to be successful. Dominannt defense, outstanding running game and two huge play makers in Keary Kolbert and Steve Smith and you've got the recipe for sucess I think. But then again, those Patriots do define logic quite a bit.

6. I think I'm really disappointed in Arizona. I was honest to goodness really excited for them.

7. I think Cincy has a great offense and a decent defense, but I just can't see them being on the level of say Pittsburgh, Philly or New England. But again, all Cincy wants is a playoff spot right?

8. I TOLD you we should've drafted Derrick Johnson Mooch. Seriously.

9. I think that while I'm disappointed Notre Dame lost, I think it'll stop people from looking at the Irish as some miracle story. Now Notre Dame can go back to being just a football team trying to get wins, instead of having all this pressure about Charlie Weis this and Charlie Weis that. I mean, it was nice having the spotlight on the Irish, but I think now they can just go about being a good football team.

10. I think USC has a tenacious offense, but I still want to them play against a competent secondary. And no Oklahoma doesn't count. Their secondary last year was overrated against run heavy Big 12 offenses. (well other than Texas Tech).

11. I think Vince Young gets a lot more love than he deserves. I mean sure he had a nice 1st and last quarters against Ohio State, but did anybody really think he was a Heisman candidate on those 2nd and 3rd quarters?

12. FINALLY, everybody realizes that Chad Henne and Adrian Peterson are SOPHOMORES. Yes they were fantastic freshman, but they're also 20 year olds who might get a little dose of jitters with HUGE programs resting on their shoulders, no matter how big they are. Can you imagine? "Hey Chad. I know classes are tough and all, but do you think, just 2 years out of high school, you can lead our program that's recorded the most wins of any school in college football HISTORY to a national championship?"

13. Dear Miami Hurricanes, please stop acting like the UNC Tar Heels of old and act and play towards your potential. Especially you Lance Leggett and Sinorice Moss. Don't think you're not out of the woods D, what happened to the ferocity? Warren Sapp, Vince Wilfork, Jonathan Vilma, Ray Lewis, Dan Morgan, Ed Reed, Sean Taylor and DJ Williams would be appalled. By the way, what's with Miami and stud tight ends? (Bubba Franks, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow Jr. and now Greg Olsen?)

14. I think Troy Polamalu couldn't be playing for a more fitting team than the Steelers.

15. I think you can't really thank Urban Meyer for Florida's turnaround. 16 points for an offensive minded coach? I think you have to tip your hat more towards that tenacious Gator D that limited Fulmer's boys to a measley 7 points.
